Rotor
Using an ohmmeter, check electric conductance between contact rings of a rotor. If there is no electric conductance, replace a rotor. Standard resistance: about 2.9.
Using an ohmmeter, check whether there is no electric conductance between contact rings and a rotor. If there is an electric conductance, replace a rotor.
Check contact rings whether there is no roughness or a deposit. If they are uneven or there is a deposit, replace a rotor.
Using a caliper with the nonius, measure diameter of a contact ring.
standard diameter: 14.2 - 14.4 mm (0.557 - 0.567 inches)
minimum diameter: 12.8 mm (0.504 inches)
If diameter is less than minimum, replace a rotor.
Stator
Using an ohmmeter, check electric conductance of all contacts. If there is no electric conductance, replace the stator.
Using an ohmmeter, check whether there is no electric conductance between contacts of the stator and the core of the stator. If there is an electric conductance, replace the stator.
Brush and brush holder
Check each brush for wear, having measured its length, as shown. If the brush is worn-out to a limit, replace a brush. Address the Section Replacement of Brushes in this Chapter.
Length of an open part of a brush of "a":
standard: 10.5 mm (0.413 inches)
limit: 4.5 mm (0.351 inches)
Rectifier
Positive rectifier
Using an ohmmeter, connect one probe of a tester to the plug "B", and another – to each of rectifier plugs.
Change polarity of probes of a tester and repeat item 1.
Check that one shows conductivity existence, and another – is not present.
If there is an electric conductance, replace the rectifier.
1 — the plug "B" 2 — the rectifier plug |
Negative rectifier
Using an ohmmeter, connect one probe of a tester to each of negative contacts, and another to each of rectifier plugs.
Change polarity of probes of a tester and repeat item 1.
Check that one shows conductivity existence, and another – is not present.
If there is an electric conductance, replace the rectifier.
1 — negative contact 2 — the rectifier plug |
Bearing
Check that the drive and the bearing has no jags and are not worn-out.
Check that the casing of the bearing has no jags and it is not worn-out.
