Sulphation
If the battery long time is in the discharged state, sulfate of lead turns into solid crystal substance which is quite difficult for transforming back to active weight at the subsequent charging.
"Sulphation" means not only process of this chemical reaction, but also its result.
Such battery can be returned to a condition of operational readiness by means of very slow charging, but its power will be weaker, than earlier.
