Regulation and check of a tension of a belt of the cooling fan
Disconnect a negative cable from the accumulator before checking and regulating a belt tension. |
For G16 engines
Check a belt for existence of cracks, cuts, deformations, wear and purity. If that not so, replace a belt.
Check a belt tension. The tension of a belt is considered correct when it caves in according to the following technical requirements under pressure of a thumb (about 10 kg or 22 pounds). A tension of a belt of the cooling fan (for models of G16 engines) "and": 5 – 7 mm (0.20 – 0.28 inches) sag under pressure of 10 kg (22 pounds).
When replacing a belt on new adjust a belt tension to 5 – 6 mm (0.20 – 0.24 inches) (G16 engine). |
G16 engine
1 — 10 kg (22 pounds) 2 — an adjusting bolt 3 — a hinged bolt |
If the belt is tense too poorly or too strongly, adjust its tension, having displaced position of the generator. |
Twirl an adjusting bolt and a hinged bolt of the generator.
Connect a negative cable (-) to the accumulator.
For J20 engines
Examine a belt regarding cracks, cuts, deformations, wear and purity. If that not so, replace a belt.
Check a belt tension. The tension of a belt is considered normal when it sags according to the following technical requirements under pressure of a thumb (about 10 kg or 22 pounds). A tension of a belt of the cooling fan (for J20 model engines) "and": sags on 5 – 7 mm (0.20 – 0.27 inches) under weight / 10 kg (22 pounds).
When replacing a belt by new, adjust a belt tension to 4 – 5 mm (0.16 – 0.20 inches). |
J20 engine
1 — 10 kg (22 pounds) 2 — an adjusting bolt 3 — a crankshaft pulley 4 — a fan pulley 5 — a hinged bolt |
If the belt is tense too hardly or too poorly, adjust it as follows:
Weaken an adjusting bolt (1) and a hinged bolt (2).
Twirl an adjusting bolt (1), holding a fan belt in the corresponding tension at this time, twisting a high-intense bolt with control of loading (3) a wrench.
Fasten an adjusting bolt (1) and a hinged bolt (2) with the specified rotating moment.
The rotating inhaling moment:
adjusting bolt of a pulley of the cooling fan (for the J20 engine) (and): 45 N • m (4.5 kg-m, 32.5 pound on foot)
hinged bolt of a pulley of the cooling fan (for the J20 engine) (b): 45 N • m (4.5 kg-m, 32.5 pound on foot)
