Main cable of blocking

At removal and installation of a cable of blocking do not bend it strongly, otherwise the system will incorrectly work.

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

    Disconnect "minus" (–) a cable from the battery. If there is a system of a safety cushion, disconnect it. Uncover an opening of a steering column. Incline a steering column if it is adjustable. If it is not adjustable, weaken bolts of a steering column. Uncover a steering column.

Type 1

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

    Remove the blocking cable clip bolt which is on the ignition switch. Disconnect the internal end of a cable of blocking (from the ignition switch).

    Having removed a console box, pull out a blocking cable, having weakened lock-nuts. Pressing of teeth of a lug of a cam of blocking disconnect the end of a cable from a blocking cam (or a key unblocking cam). At the same time be careful not to damage teeth.

Type 2

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

    Turn the ignition switch in the provision of "ACC".
    Pressing of a bracket the screw-driver with a flute (3) pull out a cable of blocking of a key (1) from a cover of the cylinder of a key (2).
    Turn the ignition switch in position of" LOCK" (BLOCKING). Remove a console box.
    Pressing of teeth (3) lugs of a cam of blocking disconnect the end of a cable (1) from a cam of blocking (2). At the same time be careful not to damage teeth.
    Pressing of a bracket disconnect a protective cap of a cable (4) from an arm of the lever of the choice of transfer (5). Remove a blocking cable.

Installation

Type 1

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

    Switch the lever of the choice of transfer to situation "N" and turn the ignition key in the provision of "ACC". Connect the internal end of a cable of blocking to the lever of blocking of a key (from the ignition switch). Install an arm of the external end of a cable of blocking on the switch of ignition and tighten a bolt to the specified value of the moment of an inhaling. Moment of an inhaling (a): 2.2 N • m (0.22 kg-m, 1.5 pounds feet).

    Pass and connect a blocking cable.
1 — a blocking cable

3 — the holder of a steering column
    Record a blocking cam, having inserted a hairpin with a diameter about 4 mm (0.15 inches) into openings of a cam and a plate of the lever. Establish the end of a cable on a cam of blocking and a hairpin and, having convinced that the laminated spring pushes the external end of a cable in the direction of an arrow B, tighten a fixing nut to the specified value of the moment of an inhaling. Remove a hairpin. Moment of an inhaling (a): 13 N • m (1.3 kg-m, 9.5 pounds feet). Turn the ignition key in the provision of "ACC", switch the lever of the choice of transfer to situation "N" and check the following:
      When the lever of the choice of transfer is switched to situation "P" with the pressed handle button, the ignition key does not turn from the provision of "ACC" in the provision of "LOCK" (BLOCKING). When the button of the handle is released, the ignition key can be turned in the provision of "LOCK" (BLOCKING). When the ignition key is in the provision of "LOCK" (BLOCKING), the lever of the choice of transfer cannot be switched from situation "P" to any other situation.
    Install a console box. Establish a cover of a steering column. Adjust a steering column or tighten bolts of a steering column. Establish a cover of an opening of a steering column. If there is a system of a safety cushion, include it.

Type 1

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

    Put a blocking cable as it was laid initially. Turn the ignition switch in the provision of "ACC". Reliably establish a protective cap of a cable (1) in a cover of the cylinder of a key (2).
Type 2.
    Stretch and attach a blocking cable.
    Extend the button of blocking (1) on the end of a cable from the lever of the choice of transfer (2).
    Switch the lever of the choice of transfer to situation "N".

If the lever of the choice of transfer is in situation "P", switch it as it is described in the Section the Manual selector.


    Establish a protective cap of a cable (3) on an arm of the lever of the choice of transfer (4).
    Connect the end of a cable (1) to a cam of blocking (2), previously having turned the ignition switch in the provision of "ACC". Install the button of blocking (5) in the end of a cable, moving it until it does not block lengthening and reduction of a cable. Having installed the lever of the choice of transfer to situation "P", turn the ignition key in the provision of "ACC" and check the following:
      When the button of the handle is not pressed, the ignition key can be turned from the provision of "ACC" in the provision of "LOCK" (BLOCKING). When the button of the handle is pressed, the ignition key does not turn from the provision of "ACC" in the provision of "LOCK" (BLOCKING).
    Install a console box. Establish a cover of a steering column. Adjust a steering column or tighten bolts of a steering column. Establish a cover of an opening of a steering column. If the car is equipped with system of a safety cushion, connect minus a cable of the battery and include system of a safety cushion.
