Balancing of wheels

There are two types of balance of wheels and tires: static and dynamic.

Static balance represents equal distribution of weight to a wheel. Statically not the balanced wheels cause the vertical oscillating motion called by jumping. Such state results in uneven wear of tires.

[A] — Before adjustment
[C] — Correcting weight
1 — heavy jumping of a wheel
2 — balance weights in an additional point
3 — the central line of a spindle

Dynamic balance represents equal distribution of weight to each side of the central line of a wheel in such a way that at rotation of a wheel it does not move here and there. Dynamically unbalanced wheels can cause shimm (self-excited angular fluctuation of wheels).

[C] — Before adjustment
[D] — Correcting weight
1 — heavy wheel shimm
2 — balance weights in an additional point
3 — the central line of an axis of a fist
