Table of diagnostics of a control system of the four-wheel drive

Before to carry out diagnostics of malfunctions, check that transfer and forward differential were in good repair, and there was no leak of air from air hoses and the actuator. Leak of air is described in this section in the Section Service out of a workshop.

Notes on verification of the electrical circuitry of system:

  • Before to start verification of the electrical circuitry, read Precautionary measures at service of electric chains in Chapter 0A and follow the recommendations stated there.
  • The electrical circuitry of system see in the drawing in the Section the General description in this Chapter.
  • The sequence of contacts is described in this Chapter, in the Section Verification of the Electrical Circuitry of Control of the Four-wheel Drive.

Turn on the ignition switch (but the engine is stopped) and check malfunction of a bulb of the indicator.

The bulb burns?

You pass to a step 2

Somewhere there was a problem. Eliminate it

Check the electrical circuitry of the switch of the four-wheel drive.

Turn on the switch of ignition and check that tension between contacts of C51-2-18 and S51-3-17 ("earth") for G16/J20 was the following:

* When the gear shifting lever in situation N or 2N: 10-14 Volts

* When the gear shifting lever in situation 4 L or 4H: 0-1 Volt

Results of check are satisfactory?

You pass to a step 3

Check the switch of the four-wheel drive (see the Head the Mechanical transmission (type 1)), the electrical circuitries "B/Or" and "B" of the switch of the four-wheel drive. If everything is all right, replace with a serviceable electronic control unit and recheck

Check food.

Turn on the ignition switch.

Check tension between contacts of C51-2-7 and S51-3-17 ("earth") for G16/J20. Results of check have to be the following:

* When the gear shifting lever in situation N or 2N: 0-1 Volt

* When the gear shifting lever in situation 4L or 4N: 10-14 Volts

Results of check are satisfactory?

You pass to a step 4

Check the scheme "R". If everything is all right, replace with a serviceable electronic control unit and recheck

Check the electrical circuitry of the air pump.

Check correctness of connection with the air pump on all contacts.

Turn on the ignition switch.

Check tension between contacts of C51-2-27 and S51-3-17 ("earth") for G16/J20. Results of check have to be the following:

* When the gear shifting lever in situation N or 2N: 0-1 Volt

* When the gear shifting lever in situation 4L or 4N (more than 4 seconds after switching in 4L or 4N): 10-14 Volts

Results of check are satisfactory?

You pass to a step 5

Check the air pump as it is described in the Section Service out of a workshop, and then the electrical circuitry "P". If everything is all right, replace with a serviceable electronic control unit and recheck

Check the electrical circuitry of a bulb of the indicator of the four-wheel drive.

Turn on the ignition switch.

Check tension between contacts of E61-19 and S51-3-17 ("earth") for G16/J20. Results of check have to be the following:

* When the gear shifting lever in situation N or 2N: 10-14 Volts

* When the gear shifting lever in situation 4L or 4N: 0-1 Volt

Results of check are satisfactory?

Control system of the four-wheel drive in good shape

Check the scheme "Or/B" (including a bulb of the indicator and the complex counter). If everything is all right, replace with a serviceable electronic control unit and recheck
