Steering wheel and steering column with a safety cushion

General description

Service of components of system of a safety cushion or conducting is carried out only by the authorized dealer of SUZUKI. Non-compliance with precautionary measures can lead to inadvertent operation of system or bring system to a non-working state. Both of these states can lead to a severe injury.
The manipulations described in this Section have to be carried out in the specified sequence temporarily to disconnect system of a safety cushion and at the same time not to activate system of diagnostic codes of malfunctions. Non-compliance with these manipulations can lead to operation of system of a safety cushion, a trauma or additional repair of system of a safety cushion.

At removal of elements of fixture, always establish them on the same place from which they were removed. If the element of fixture demands replacement, use for replacement only fastenings with the corresponding number. If fixture elements with the corresponding number are unavailable, it is possible to use elements of the same size and durability (or is stronger). The elements of fixture and elements of fixture which are not subject to reuse with a component of blocking of a carving will be called. At installation of some elements of fixture it is necessary to observe the corresponding values of the moment of an inhaling. Non-compliance with above-mentioned manipulations can lead to damage of parts or systems.

In addition to standard steering functions this steering column of two-pipe type has three more important characteristics:

It absorbs energy and contracts in case of head-on collision. The switch of ignition and the lock are conveniently located on a column. The lock located on a column allows to block ignition and work of a steering wheel that protects the car from stealing.

To provide the power absorbing function of a steering column it is important to use only the specified bolts which should be tightened till the inhaling moment designated in the specification. When the column is removed from the car, with it it is necessary to handle extra care. Use of other, than the sharp blow to the end of a steering shaft is recommended in this instruction, a stripper of a steering wheel, or, falling of a column or pressure upon it can break off plastic pins which regulate situation and length of a column.

The module (naduva) of a safety cushion of the driver is one of additional components of means of passive safety (safety cushion) and is installed in the center of a steering wheel. At certain head-on collisions the system of a safety cushion supplements system of means of passive safety in the form of seat belts. It is necessary to handle with the module (naduv) of a safety cushion of the driver with care not to provoke casual operation of a pillow. When carrying out service it is necessary to observe all PREVENTIONS of this section.
