Wheel nave (including the wheel bearing)

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

    Lift the car and remove a wheel.
    Remove a flange of the drive of an axis of a shaft (1) (at the all-wheel drive car) or a wheel nave cap (at the car with the drive on two wheels).
    If there is a system of anti-blocking of brakes (ABS), remove the wheel speed sensor from a fist and the fastening plug from a rack. Remove a bolt of a support of a disk brake and leave a support to hang.

Hang up the removed support of a disk brake on a wire hook or something similar that the brake hose strongly was not bent and was not overwound or not pulled out. Do not press a brake pedal when brake shoes are removed.


    Remove a brake disk.

If the brake disk is not removed hands, use 8-millimeter bolts.


    Remove a lock washer of the bearing of a forward wheel (1), having weakened 4 bolts (2).
    By means of the special tool remove a lock-nut of the bearing of a forward wheel. Special tool: (A): 09951-16050.
    Remove a washer of the bearing of a forward wheel. Hands remove a wheel nave.

If it is not possible to remove a wheel nave manually, use special tools.

If at removal of a nave of a wheel the internal holder of the bearing of a wheel remains on a wheel fist axis that means breakage of the bearing of a wheel, replace a wheel nave (together with the wheel bearing).

    Remove a rotor of the sensor (1) from a nave of a wheel (2) (if there is a system of anti-blocking of brakes of ABS).
  • Gradually and evenly extend a sensor rotor from a wheel nave.
  • Do not reuse the removed sensor rotor. At installation put a new rotor of the sensor.
    Remove nave bolts from a nave.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

    Insert a new pin into a nave opening. Slowly rotate it to be convinced that crenulate connections coincide with the connections made an initial bolt.

    Establish a new rotor of the sensor (1) by means of the special tool (if there is a system of anti-blocking of brakes of ABS).

Be attentive not to insert a nave of a wheel (2) on diagonal.


The provision of a rotor of the sensor of speed of a wheel (1) at installation.
Approximate size: 4.9 ± 0.1 mm (0.19 ± 0.004 inches).
3 — a hydraulic press

    Establish by fingers a nave of a wheel (1) on the spindle supporting an internal holder (3).

Do not beat a wheel nave with the hammer or something heavy. It is so possible to break it.


If it is impossible to establish a wheel nave manually, (that means that the internal holder is not leveled), remove a nave of a wheel and establish it again.

    Establish a wheel bearing washer, and then a wheel bearing lock-nut.
    Turning a hand a wheel nave, tighten a wheel bearing lock-nut to the specified value of the moment of an inhaling. Special tool: (A) 09951-16050. Inhaling moment: a lock-nut of the bearing of a wheel (a) — 216 N • m (21.6 kg-m, 157 pounds feet).
    Lock washer (1) block a bearing lock-nut. If the opening of a blocking bolt is not leveled with an opening in a lock-nut, turn a lock-nut in the direction of tightening until they are not leveled. Inhaling moment: a blocking bolt (b) — 1.5 N • m (0.15 kg-m, 1.1 pounds feet).
    For the all-wheel drive car use plastic lithium lubricant for a washer of a shaft of the forward drive and an external axis of a fist of a forward wheel. "A": lubricant 99000-25010.
    For the all-wheel drive car at installation of a lock ring (1) on a shaft of the drive use a bolted opening in a drive shaft to pull out it and to turn big diameter (2) rings to the right.
    At cars with system of anti-blocking of brakes of ABS check that no alien material stuck to the sensor and a rotor. Install the sensor of speed of a wheel (1) and the plug of its fastening.
      Inhaling moment:
        bolt of the plug of fastening (a): 10 N • m (1.0 kg-m, 7.5 pounds feet) bolt of the sensor (b): 23 N • m (2.3 kg-m, 17.0 pounds feet)

  • At installation of the sensor of speed of a forward wheel (1) do not pull and do not overwind excessively connecting wires.
  • Reliably attach a sealing ring to an internal wing.

    Check that there was no gap between the sensor and a fist.
    Establish a brake disk and a support of a disk brake. Inhaling moment: a bolt of a support of a disk brake (e) — 85 N • m (8.5 kg-m, 61.5 pounds feet).
    Apply sealant and establish a flange of the drive of an axis of a shaft or a cap of a nave of a wheel.

For the all-wheel drive car

    Apply sealant on the adjoining surface of a flange of the drive of an axis of a shaft (1), then establish a flange of the drive of an axis of a shaft and tighten a flange bolt (2) to the specified value of the moment of an inhaling.
    Inhaling moment:
      bolt of a flange of the drive (a): 50 N • m (5.0 kg-m, 36.5 pounds feet) "A": sealant 99000-31090

For the car with the drive on two wheels

    Remove lubricant, old sealant and dirt from the adjoining surfaces of a cap of a nave of a wheel (3) and a nave (4), evenly apply waterproof sealant "A" on the cleared nave cap surface and establish a cap on a nave. "A": sealant 99000-31090.
    Establish a wheel. Inhaling moment: nut of a wheel (a): 100 N • m (10.0 kg-m, 72.5 pounds feet).
    For cars with system of anti-blocking of brakes of ABS, carry out a test trip as it is described in the Head the Anti-blocking brake system (ABS), (The table of diagnostics of malfunctions of ABS).
