Service and leaving

Many service procedures demand shutdown of a safety lock of a safety cushion and disconnection from power supply of all modules of safety cushions in order to avoid emergency operation.

Driver's and passenger modules of safety cushions

For leaving and storage of not worked "air bag" module it is necessary to choose the place with ambient temperature below 65 °C (150 °F), with low degree of humidity and far from electric hindrances.

When transporting of not worked module, you take the side of its opening from yourself. In case of emergency operation, the pillow will work with the minimum possibility of damage. Never bear the safety cushion module for wires or for the connector on a reverse side of the module. At placement of not worked module on a workbench or other surface always put it a pillow up from a surface. since not worked module of a safety cushion has to be the facing panel up, put it on a workbench with a cut or use a vice for reliable fixing for its lower fixing bracket. It is necessary to provide free space for operation of a pillow since in case of emergency operation. Non-compliance with this condition can lead to injuries.

Never throw out not worked modules "air bag" (driver's and passenger). If it is necessary, surely blow up them before emission.

The safety cushion module right after operation becomes very hot. Wait at least half of hour to cool it for performance of further actions.

After the module of a safety cushion worked, its surface may contain the powdery remains of combustion. This powder mainly consists of the corn starch (used for pillow lubricant at inflation) and by-products of chemical reaction. For many service procedures it is necessary to use gloves and goggles.

A. The module of a safety cushion should not be close to a body during opening.

B. The module of a safety cushion has to be strongly fixed at the stand.

KDM

During service operations be very careful at service of the control and diagnostic module (CDM). Never shake and do not strike KDM.

Never give food to the "air bag" system so far KDM is not connected rigidly to the car. All details of fastening of KDM and an adjusting arm have to be tightened according to the determined moment and the arrow has to indicate a forward part of the car to provide the correct functioning of the "air bag" system.

KDM can be activated when giving food if it is not connected rigidly to the car that can lead to injuries.

Driver's and passenger prednatyazhitel of seat belts

For leaving and storage of not worked prednatyazhitel of a seat belt choose the place with ambient temperature below 65 °C (150 °F), with low degree of humidity and far from electric hindrances.

Never bear a prednatyazhitel of a belt for a wire or the connector. At placement of not worked prednatyazhitel of a belt on a workbench or other surface never put it an opening for removal of gases from top to bottom. It is also forbidden to put something on a surface with the outlet or to put prednatyazhitel of belts at each other. Non-compliance with this condition can lead to injuries.

Never throw out not worked prednatyazhitel of seat belts (driver's and passenger). If it is necessary, surely activate them before emission.

Prednatyazhitel of a seat belt right after operation becomes very hot. Wait at least half of hour to cool it for performance of further actions.

For many service procedures it is necessary to use gloves and goggles to prevent possible irritation of skin and an eye.

1 — the outlet

Even at the insignificant accident which did not cause operation of safety cushions surely check components of system and the connected components.

At service of the components which are not relating to the "air bag" system, but if the blow could damage system components, then replace these components beforehand.

At care of modules of safety cushions (driver's and passenger), prednatyazhitel of seat belts (driver's and passenger) or KDM, be attentive, do not drop and do not hit them. If there was a strong blow (for example, falling from height in 91.4 cm (3 feet) or is more), do not try to sort or repair, just replace new.

When lubricant, detergent, oil, water, etc. got to the "air bag" module (driver's and passenger) or in a prednatyazhitel of a seat belt (driver's and passenger), immediately wipe a dry rag.

Conducting of the "air bag" system can be easily determined by yellow color of a winding of wires and by yellow connectors. Be very attentive during the work with them.

At detection of break, damage to conducting, the connector or contact replace a plait of wires, connectors and contacts assembled.

Give food so far all components are connected to the "air bag" system or the table of diagnostic process demands it since it will provoke an error code.

Never use components of the "air bag" system from other car.

When using welding, it is necessary to disconnect the "air bag" system temporarily.

Never subject components of the "air bag" system to direct influence of hot air (drying of the car after painting) or to naked flame.

Stickers of WARNING/CAUTION are pasted on all components of the "air bag" system. Attentively follow instructions.

After repair is finished, execute diagnostic check of the "air bag" system.
